EU/EAA and USA/Canada Security Regulations For Duty Free Items

On Departure: All Icelandair passengers departing the USA and Canada must go through EU/EEA (European Union / European Economic Area) security screening upon arrival at Keflavik International Airport in Iceland. If USA or Canadian departing passengers have purchased liquid duty free items in North America prior to boarding that are in containers 100ml or larger, the items will be confiscated. Exception is made for dutyfree items purchased in EU/EEA dutyfree shops in properly sealed bags.

On Arrival: All Icelandair passengers entering the USA with properly-sealed EU/EEA duty free items in their carry-on and who are connecting to USA domestic flights upon their international arrival must pack their duty free items in their suitcases prior to boarding their domestic flight.

Saga Class:

Permitted for each Saga Class passenger+

• Two carry-on bags, not weighing more than 9kg (20lbs) each, total of the 3 dimensions (L+W+H) does not exceed 115cm (45in).

Economy Class:

Permitted for each Economy Class passenger+

• One carry-on bag, not weighing more than 6kg (13lbs), total of the 3 dimensions (L+W+H) does not exceed 115cm (45in).

Additional Free Baggage Items+

On all International flights the following objects may be taken on board free of charge, as additional cabin baggage:

• 1 coat or wrap
• 1 handbag
• 1 umbrella or cane
• 1 small camera
• 1 pair of binoculars
• reasonable amount of reading material
• baby food for the flight
• baby's carrying basket

From April 14th 2005 all Lighters and matches are now prohibited as a carry-on item in the aircraft cabin to and from the USA. Full details can be found on the US Transportation Security website at http://www.tsa.gov/public Disabled passengers are allowed a wheelchair in addition to their free baggage allowance, but it must be checked.

Baggage taken into the cabin of Icelandair aircraft must be placed under the seats in front of them or in overhead the bin. The passenger is responsible for his or her own cabin baggage.

The cabin crew is not required to accomodate large cabin baggage such as framed pictures, due to lack of space and security reasons in cabin.
