Important : If you are arriving in Iceland on an evening flight from North America, this tour is NOT recommended for your arrival day.  Passengers usually arrive at their hotel around 8am.  Any delays could cause you to miss the tour departure.  Icelandair cannot reimburse passengers for unused portions of a package or land only travel once travel starts.


Actual hiking is about 4 - 5 hours. Moderate level with slow walking pace. Ideal for all levels of hikers in reasonable physical shape. Hotel pick up starts 30 minutes before scheduled time.

Please note that this tour will not pick up passengers at hotels outside of Reykjavik.

Experience the extremes of Iceland from steam to ice! Head from Reykjavik to the Hengill geothermal area for a two to three hour walk, including the possibility of bathing in a hot spring-fed stream. Next enjoy a scenic drive to the Myrdalsjokull glacier. Strap on crampons to explore a wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges and deep crevasses. Enjoy the the rare rich blue color of Icelandic glacier ice. Altogether, it's a great day of magnificent nature and scenery.

Wear: Warm clothes and good, waterproof hiking boots.
Bring: Swimsuit, rain wear, towel (changing rooms not available), packed lunch, large bottle of water. (Tour stops en route at a store where you can buy packed lunch items). Alpine walking sticks recommended but not required.

Not recommended for children under 10 years old.
