Transfer to hotel in Reykjavik for your first night in Iceland.  There should be a pack of documents concerning your journey for you at the hotel. (No meals included today)

Day 2: Early morning pick up of car at Hertz and then you are off. Many sites await along the South Coast. See near Dyrholaey, a rocky promontory with a keyhole so large that a ship can sail through. Glimpse the volcanic Westman Islands just offshore and photograph glacial waterfalls and the ice cave behind Seljalandsfoss. You can make it a long day under the light of the midnight sun, and then overnight in the area. Day 3: Today you will see first hand the effect of volcanic activity in Iceland when you explore the richly volcanic landscape of Thjorsardalur Valley. Enjoy views of bird woods, black sand lava fields, Iceland's longest river and several charming waterfalls. Framing all this is the impressive snow-crowned Mt. Hekla Volcano. Maybe you'll decide to visit Thjodveldisbaerinn, an interesting replica of a Viking age farm destroyed by Hekla's fury. Then it's on to the world famous Golden Circle! Iceland's great Geysir gets its name from the Old Norse word "geysir" and you'll see this natural wonder spout steam and hot water with fantastic force. From bubbling hot springs to magnificent glaciers and the majestic Golden
Falls with its perpetual rainbow, you're sure to learn about Mother Nature in this awesome country.
Optional tour suggestions (booked in Iceland): Thjodveldisbaerinn Farm, river rafting in Geysir area, ATV Quad biking in Haukadalur Valley (B)

Day 4: You'll have plenty of time today to visit Thingvellir National Park, where the world's oldest surviving Parliament first met over a thousand years ago and where a rift in the Earth's crust divides the continent of Europe from North America.  View two waterfalls, the charming Children's  Falls and the mystical Lava Falls. Visit the homestead of a medieval chieftain/poet at Reykholt Village before returning to Reykjavik. Drop off your car. Tonight is yours to enjoy the charms of the world's northernmost capital city.
