Lake Myvatn is a UNESCO recognized area famous for its unique volcanic features and as a summer home for many types of water birds. A 45-minute flight takes you to Akureyri in North Iceland where you meet your guide. The guided tour begins with a drive around a fjord with splendid views and a visit to the scenic Godafoss waterfall. The tour's highlight is Lake Myvatn. Highlights include huge "pseudo" craters, underground hot springs, colorful pools of molten earth and the "Dark Castles" of lava.
Note: Walking is involved. Wear good weatherproof outdoor shoes.
