The fifth edition of Sonar Reykjavik will take place February 16 - 18, 2017 at the architectural masterpiece, the Harpa Concert Hall. Icelandair is thrilled to be able to offer travel packages for the Sónar enthusiasts making the trip over to Iceland.

Originating in Barcelona in 1994, Sónar is the International Festival of Advanced Music. Along with top international headliners, Sónar Reykjavík brings you both established and up-and-coming talent from Iceland's vibrant music scene - with the 2017 program set to feature over 60 bands, solo artists and DJs. The amazing concert house Harpa, Sónar's home throughout the festival, and the music emanating from inside will be a stark contrast to the Icelandic winter and the Arctic darkness outside. Sónar Reykjavik is an experiment in how music can reach those who truly seek it by those performing it and seeing that it´s not always the largest stage and the biggest crowd that matters but also the unique relationship between the performer and their audience that forms and the memories for all involved.

As in previous years, Sónar Reykjavik will take place on five stages inside the Harpa Concert Hall with maximum distance of two minutes walk between the stages. Beside the two main stages, SonarClub (Silfurberg) and SonarHall (Nordurljus), Harpa's underground car park will yet again be transformed into the SonarLab nightclub. The newest stage, SonarPub, will continue to be part of the festival in 2017, while the seated hall of SonarComplex (Kaldalon) will bring you curious excursions into popular music, downtempo and experimental compositions.

In recent years more then 70 artists, bands and DJ´s have performed each year at Sónar Reykjavik including Squarepusher, Skrillex, Major Lazer, James Blake, Todd Terje, Paul Kalkbrenner, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Nina Kraviz, Elliphant, Yung Lean and Bonobo to name few along with some of the most exciting and established artists and bands from the thriving Icelandic music scene like FM Belfast, Asgeir Trausti, GusGus, DJ Margeir, Sisý Ey plus many more.

Harpa Concert House is located in the heart of Reykjavik. The building was selected as one of the greatest concert halls of the new millennium by Gramophone magazine and named the best performance venue 2011 by Travel & Leisure magazine. Harpa also received the Mies van der Rohe architectural award in 2013, an award by some regarded as the highest honor an building can receive in Europe.
