Notes Hotel pick-ups begin 60 minutes before scheduled tour departure

We highly recommend the 2pm departure for passengers arriving in the early morning on flights from North America. The 10am morning departure is NOT recommended as passengers generally arrive at their hotel around 8am, and any delays could cause you to miss the 8am or 9am hotel pick up for the tour. Icelandair cannot reimburse passengers for unused portions of a package or land only travel once travel starts. Please note as well we don't generally recommend this tour for passengers with afternoon departures due to similar time constraints.

Your whale watching adventure begins at Reykjavik´s Old Harbour, just minutes away from the city centre! Choose from a 2.5-hour high-speed express boat version or a full 3.5-hour tour, both of which include round-trip transportation from Reykjavik hotels. Our boats offer great comfort, a fantastic interior, large outside viewing decks and a safe family environment. Your experienced guide will share a wealth of knowledge on the whales during the trip out to the watching area, as well as passing on some interesting facts and old sea stories about encounters with these magnificent creatures. The whales here are not shy, often surfacing quite close to the boat, and as the sea-faring guides will surely mention, seeing a whale up close truly is a sight to remember. These tours have between 76-99% success at viewing whales, depending on season, with the most common marine creatures spotted including minke whales, white-beaked Dolphins, harbor porpoises and the great humpback whales. Please note of course because this is nature, whale sightings are not guaranteed. As well, please keep in mind that the weather can change rapidly in Iceland, and any tour cancellations due to weather & safety conditions are at the discretion of the boat captain. The whale watching company will do its best to let guests know in advance if cancellation is likely, and accordingly, will assist guests in finding an alternate time or a different tour altogether if cancellation does occur.
